Remembering the Big Picture

This pdf file (1.8 mb) is the start of a much more involved project that tries to address the propensity of the public education system (meaning almost everybody) to ignore the forest in favor of the trees.

Benchmarks, standards, rubrics, goals, and other similar kinds of data have become driving forces in schools rather than the simple measurements of socialization that they really are.

I have assembled a 7-minute DVD on this issue, which took hold of me in earnest this week. At 1.35 GB, it's too big for the Web. Smaller versions have proven to be too poor in quality to post. Thinking, thinking....

That is too big, but maybe a snip or snippet? I do think you're right about the trees and the forest, but I can wait for a condensed version. Please.
